Welcome!
My name is Saundra, I am the founder of Auxilium Vitae. This is more than a business to me, and I have hopes of expanding services in the future. After serving my community for 15 years as a detention officer, I was burned out, depressed, and needed a change. COVID took a heavy toll on us in the jails, we lost people we cared about and went to work each day just trying to put one foot in front of the other. I was a sergeant when I left, and had become the primary mental health instructor for the jail. I loved so many aspects of the job, but the damage to my mental and physical health was unsustainable. In January of 2022, I took a significant pay cut to become an office manager for a psychology practice. I started working on my bachelor’s degree in June of that year. It’s been a long and bumpy road to finish this degree, but I know that I finally have my feet on the right path. Since leaving law enforcement, I’ve learned that I am autistic and ADHD, as is my child. Putting all of this together sparked the idea that became the AVP – bridging gaps between first responders and needed training related to mental health; both their own and that of the people they serve; and the void many find themselves in between diagnosis and services such as therapy, disability, and accommodations. Sometimes, all we need to cross a bridge is a little help, a little support – Support for Life.
